The outcome offers an early political boost to the ruling alliance, but the larger contest remains open as elections in the remaining urban local bodies approach. The YSR Congress Party has raised concerns over the election process, alleging that its candidates faced obstruction while filing nominations. The allegations have added to the political tension surrounding the polls. With campaigning gathering pace, the November 1 elections and the counting scheduled for November 3 are expected to draw close attention from both camps.
