Need a break from city life? AP's new green spaces offer a breather
For people tired of traffic, concrete and crowded streets, a patch of greenery can feel like a welcome luxury. Andhra Pradesh has added six urban forests and three ecotourism projects, opening up more opportunities for residents to spend time closer to nature.

The projects, covering 304.60 hectares, span Bapatla, Chirala, Kotappakonda, Vinukonda, Piduguralla and Macherla. They were inaugurated virtually on October 6 by deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan and AP Green Executive Committee chairperson K. Naga Babu.
Beyond adding green cover, such spaces can offer families a change of scene, encourage outdoor activities and give children a chance to experience nature away from screens.
But creating a green space is only the beginning. Regular maintenance, clean surroundings and easy public access will determine whether these forests become places people genuinely enjoy visiting. For nearby communities, their real value lies in keeping nature within easy reach.
