Officials have been directed to remain alert and coordinate emergency arrangements. The effectiveness of these measures will depend on timely warnings, evacuation plans, functioning shelters and the availability of food, drinking water and medical assistance. Coastal districts are particularly vulnerable to flooding and damage to homes, crops and infrastructure. The government’s response will therefore be judged not only by the accuracy of its forecasts but also by how quickly assistance reaches affected people. The evolving weather system remains a major administrative priority.
