Delegates at the international climate summit agreed on a new financing window aimed at coastal cities threatened by rising sea levels. The fund will support sea walls, drainage upgrades and early-warning systems.

Developing nations welcomed the move but said the initial amount was far below what is needed. Negotiators will meet again next year to decide how contributions are shared.

Delegates from over 120 countries backed a financing plan to help port cities protect homes and infrastructure.
