System Strengthening

We augment and strengthen existing distribution networks so utilities can carry more load with fewer interruptions and lower losses.

System Strengthening

Overview

As demand grows, older networks become overloaded and lossy. System strengthening works relieve that load by splitting feeders, adding transformers and replacing weak sections, all while keeping supply running for consumers.

We plan these works closely with utility engineers, sequencing shutdowns so that disruption to consumers is kept to a minimum.

Scope of work

  • Feeder bifurcation and new link lines
  • Reconductoring of overloaded sections
  • Additional distribution transformers for load relief
  • Conversion of bare LT lines to AB cable
  • Interlinking of feeders for back-feed options
  • Replacement of damaged poles and structures
  • Works planned around utility shutdown schedules
  • Testing and recharging of the strengthened network

How we deliver

Survey & plan

Joint site survey with the utility, then drawings, materials and schedule for approval.

Execute safely

Skilled crews carry out the works under safety supervision and stage-wise quality checks.

Test & hand over

Every installation is tested, inspected and commissioned before formal handover.

Common questions

How do you reduce disruption during strengthening works?
Shutdowns are planned with the utility in advance and works are sequenced section by section so supply is restored as quickly as possible.
Do these works help reduce losses?
Yes. Reconductoring, load relief and AB cable conversion are standard measures utilities use to reduce technical losses and theft.
