At least 25 men were suspected of travelling there after agents allegedly offered civilian employment, with concerns that some were pushed into military service and sent towards a war zone. The reports have renewed concerns over recruitment agents who exploit the desperation of jobseekers. For families hoping an overseas job will secure a better future, the warning is stark: verify employment contracts, visas and employers independently before travelling, and be wary of promises that sound too good to be true.
