Although initially getting a Master's degree in architecture, Bhargavi's immense passion for art and altruistic attitude pushed her into establishing the BHARGAVI KUNAM label in 2007. Her commitment to create artwork out of simple fabric espouses creativity in the studio.

Bhargavi’s admiration for creativity was instilled in her from when she was a child. She had always loved art and design and sees them as an expression of one’s soul. She blossomed under the watchful eye of her mother, a woman who effortlessly seems to turn simple fabric into phenomenal and gravitating works of art.
As a child, watching my mother intricately weave sarees and turn simple fabric into masterpieces of art had always fascinated me. It captured all my attention watching her embrace creativity. Subconsciously I developed a strong interest in art and fashion as ways of self-expression. However, later on in my life, due to circumstances at the time, I ended up choosing architecture and then getting a Master’s degree from JNTU. Later on, I couldn’t help myself, I had to take that leap and enter the world that had been festering in the back of my head for so long.
I started my career as a fashion designer, and I haven’t looked back since then. I love the idea of expressing myself through the design of my clothes. It became therapy to me, being able to embrace and indulge in so much creative energy with the timeless elegance, luxury, and sophistication of sarees and being able to one day hopefully create my magnum opus drives me.
The idea that something can start from a simple fabric and then turn into something so timeless and perfect for your big occasion brought me serenity.
