A young woman’s desperate attempts to alert people about her safety have ended in tragedy, raising disturbing questions about passenger security on trains.
Himashri Boro, a 20-year-old student from Assam, was found dead near railway tracks at Tekkali in Srikakulam district after travelling from Visakhapatnam. Reports said she had told friends and family that she felt uncomfortable around allegedly unruly, intoxicated men in her train coach. She also reportedly sent a video to a friend before her phone became unreachable.
Her family alleged that their distress calls did not receive an effective response. Railway authorities said the Railway Protection Force had searched for her but could not locate her.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation, with preliminary findings reportedly suggesting an accidental fall. The case has renewed concerns over emergency response and women’s safety during train journeys.
